SST (Salina-Spavinaw Telephone Co.) embarked in 2017 on a multi-year capital improvements campaign to install fiber-to-the-home service throughout much of its 600-square-mile service area. The locally owned and operated independent telephone company serves about 4,800 customers in six exchanges - Salina, Locust Grove, Spavinaw, Kansas, Flint and Strang. Local employees provide the guts and grit required to bring big city services, such as fiber, to SST's small, rural communities. SST remains competitive by continually upgrading its technology and by providing top-notch customer service. SST realizes it wouldn't exist without its customers. That's why local employees, local offices and local customer service will remain the key ingredients to the company's long-term success as it approaches its 75th anniversary.
