Kingsgate Insurance Center, Inc. was founded in 1990 as Ag Business Associates by Ed Smith to primarily serve the needs of those engaged in the agricultural field. Due to Ed's past experience in farming and farm management, Ag Business' entry into the market centered around that customer base. Built on strong midwestern values and work ethics, Ag Business grew offering farm, crop and benefits insurance to its customers. In 1995, the business made the move to the Kingsgate Center in Fort Dodge, IA and took on the name Kingsgate Insurance Center, Inc. in relation to that location. From there Kingsgate Insurance diversified its products and expanded to their current downtown Fort Dodge location. In January 2011, Kingsgate Insurance purchased the Advantage Insurance & Financial Services agency in Jefferson, IA. The original combination of Ed and his wife, Denise Smith, has expanded to its current Fort Dodge and Jefferson staff of fourteen.
